Description

Pizza Paratha (Roti Pizza) is a fusion recipe made with whole wheat dough, vegetables, pizza sauce, and mozzarella cheese, cooked on a skillet and topped with herbs and chili flakes.

Ingredients

1 ¾ cup wheat flour (atta)

Water (as needed)

Salt (a pinch)

1 to 2 tbsp oil

1 ¼ to 1 ½ cup mozzarella cheese, grated

½ to 1 tbsp Italian herbs or chopped coriander

¾ to 1 tbsp red chilli flakes

2 to 3 tbsp thick pizza sauce

1 medium onion, chopped

½ cup capsicum, chopped

Olives, sliced (optional)

Instructions

1. Add wheat flour and salt to a mixing bowl. Slowly pour in water while kneading to form a soft dough.

2. Add ½ tbsp oil and knead until dough is smooth and pliable.

3. Cover and set aside while you prep the veggies and sauce.

4. Divide the dough into 6 equal balls. Dust lightly with flour and roll each into a roti.

5. Spread 1 tbsp pizza sauce over one roti. Layer with onions, capsicum, olives, and grated cheese.

6. Place another roti on top and seal edges gently.

7. Repeat for the remaining dough to make 3 stuffed parathas.

8. Heat a tawa and place one stuffed paratha on it.

9. Cook on both sides until golden, toasting edges well.

10. Flip again, spread grated cheese on the top, and cook on low heat until it melts.

11. Sprinkle chili flakes and herbs. Slice and serve hot.

12. Optionally, bake in a preheated oven at 220°C for 2 minutes to brown the cheese.

Notes

Use thick pizza sauce to avoid soggy parathas.

Avoid overstuffing to prevent filling from leaking out.

You can make it spicier by adding chopped green chilies.

Great for lunchboxes or weeknight dinners.
