Description

A cheesy, hearty pizza bowl recipe made with lean ground turkey, fresh vegetables, savory marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella for a lighter, crust-free twist on pizza night.

Ingredients

1 lb lean ground turkey

½ Tbsp olive oil

¼ cup mushrooms, chopped

1 small jalapeño, chopped

1 small green bell pepper, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

¼ cup onion, diced

1 Tbsp tomato paste

½ tsp dried oregano

¼ tsp salt, more as needed

½ tsp red pepper flakes

1½ cup marinara sauce

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded (more as needed)

¼ cup turkey pepperoni slices

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Prepare all vegetables by chopping mushrooms, jalapeño, bell pepper, and onion. Mince garlic.

2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey and cook for about 5 minutes, breaking into crumbles. Drain any excess liquid.

3. Stir in onion and garlic, cooking until onion becomes translucent. Add mushrooms, jalapeño, and bell pepper, then season with oregano, red pepper flakes, and salt.

4. Push mixture aside and add tomato paste. Let it brown slightly before stirring it into the meat and vegetables. Pour in marinara sauce and stir until combined. Let simmer for 1–2 minutes.

5. Spoon equal portions of the meat mixture into oven-safe bowls. Top each with mozzarella cheese and turkey pepperoni.

6. Place bowls on a baking sheet and bake for about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted, golden, and bubbling. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

You can substitute ground turkey with ground chicken, beef, or venison.

For a vegetarian version, use plant-based ground meat or lentils.

Use any thick red sauce you like, such as marinara, pasta sauce, or arrabbiata for more spice.

Freshly shred mozzarella for the best melt.
