Ingredients

Extra virgin olive oil

Yellow onion finely chopped

White button mushrooms thinly sliced

Fresh garlic cloves minced

Boneless skinless chicken breast cut into strips

Kosher salt

Ground black pepper

Philadelphia Original Cream Cheese softened

Low sodium chicken broth

Sargento Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese shredded

Steamed brown or white rice for serving

Fresh parsley chopped optional


Instructions

1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil

2. Add the chopped onion and sliced mushrooms and cook until softened and lightly golden

3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant

4. Season the chicken strips with salt and black pepper

5. Increase the heat slightly and add the chicken to the skillet in a single layer

6. Cook the chicken until golden on both sides and nearly cooked through

7. Lower the heat and add the cream cheese and chicken broth to the skillet

8. Stir gently until a smooth creamy sauce forms

9. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the skillet

10. Cover and cook until the cheese melts and the chicken is fully cooked

11. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed

Notes

Mushrooms can be omitted if preferred and the dish will still be creamy and flavorful

Use softened cream cheese to ensure the sauce blends smoothly

Avoid fat free cream cheese as it may affect texture

Vegetable broth or water can be used if chicken broth is unavailable

Freshly shredded cheese melts better than pre shredded varieties
