Description

Homemade Cane’s Sauce Copycat with a bold, creamy texture and tangy pepper finish. This easy no-cook condiment blends mayonnaise, ketchup, an alcohol free Worcestershire style ingredient and simple seasonings to create a perfect dipping sauce for chicken tenders, fries and sandwiches. Chill for several hours so the flavors meld and deliver that classic Cane’s style bite.

Ingredients

1/2 cup mayonnaise (4.4 oz)

3 tablespoons ketchup (2.6 oz)

1 1/2 tablespoons Crystal Worcestershire Sauce or 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce plus 1/2 tablespoon tamarind paste

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

Optional for heat: a few drops Texas Pete Original Hot Sauce or Crystal Hot Sauce or Sriraja Panich Hot Sauce

Instructions

1. Measure the mayonnaise and ketchup into a medium mixing bowl

2. Add Crystal Worcestershire Sauce, or the soy sauce plus tamarind mixture, into the bowl

3. Sprinkle in garlic powder, coarse black pepper and salt

4. Stir gently until the mixture is smooth, uniform in color and pepper flecks are evenly distributed

5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least six hours, ideally overnight, to let the flavors meld

6. Before serving stir the sauce, taste and add a small pinch more pepper or a few drops of hot sauce if you prefer extra heat

Notes

Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for three to five days

Do not freeze this mayonnaise based sauce because separation will occur once thawed

Always use a clean spoon when scooping to avoid contamination

If the sauce becomes too thick after chilling stir in a teaspoon of water or a little extra ketchup to loosen it

For a silkier texture use mayonnaise at room temperature before mixing

Brighten the sauce with a few drops of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar if desired

Preferred brand examples for the Worcestershire style ingredient: Crystal Worcestershire Sauce
