Description
A bright and creamy Herb Lemon Butter Sauce made with lemon juice, broth, cold butter, and fresh herbs. This sauce is smooth, silky, and perfect for chicken, steak, seafood, vegetables, or pasta.
Ingredients
2 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup chicken broth or vegetable broth
3 tablespoons butter, cold and cut into pieces
3 tablespoons fresh herbs such as thyme, basil, parsley, tarragon, or cilantro
1 teaspoon dried herbs if substituting
¼ teaspoon salt or to taste
⅛ teaspoon pepper or to taste
Instructions
1. Pour the lemon juice and broth into a pan and cook on medium high until reduced by half.
2. Lower the heat to medium low and add the cold butter one piece at a time, swirling gently until melted and smooth.
3. Stir in the fresh herbs along with the salt and pepper and mix until the sauce becomes silky.
4. Serve over chicken, steak, seafood, pasta with grated cheese, vegetables, or use as a dip.
Notes
Sauté a chopped garlic clove or shallot at the start for extra depth.
Add delicate herbs like basil, parsley, or cilantro at the end to keep their color and freshness.
Keep the heat at medium low after adding butter to maintain a smooth texture.
If the sauce separates, swirl or whisk over low heat until it comes back together.
Add capers, olives, cream, mustard, dill, or Italian seasoning for variation.
