Description

A bright and flavorful Fresh Cranberry Orange Sauce made with fresh cranberries, orange zest, natural citrus juice, and a balanced sweetness. Simple to prepare and perfect for adding a refreshing, tart complement to a variety of meals.

Ingredients

¼ cup white sugar

¼ cup brown sugar

zest of one orange

juice of one orange about ½ cup

½ cup water

1 bag fresh cranberries 12 ounces

Instructions

1. Zest the peel of one orange using a zester and set the zest aside.

2. Cut the orange and squeeze until you collect about half a cup of fresh juice.

3. Place a large pot over medium heat and add the white sugar, brown sugar, and water then stir gently until the sugar dissolves.

4. Add the orange zest, orange juice, and fresh cranberries then allow the mixture to simmer until the berries begin to pop and soften.

5. Remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool so it can thicken naturally.

6. Allow the sauce to chill completely before serving for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

This sauce is easy to prepare ahead of time and tastes even better after chilling. Once it reaches room temperature, transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to one week.

Leftovers can be frozen. After cooling, place the sauce in a freezer bag or airtight container and freeze for up to three months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving and stir gently to restore its texture.
