Extra virgin olive oil, two tablespoons
Salt, one and a half teaspoons
Freshly ground black pepper, one teaspoon
Dried basil leaves, half teaspoon
Alcohol free hamburger buns, four, such as Nature’s Own, Dave’s Killer Bread, or Pepperidge Farm
Instructions
1.
2. Combine ground beef with garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, and basil until just mixed
3. Form into four loose balls then flatten into patties with a small center indentation
4. Preheat an outdoor grill on high heat and lightly oil the grates
5. Place patties on the grill and cook three to five minutes per side without pressing down
6. Cook until patties reach an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit
7. Warm the buns on the grill then place patties on top and add preferred toppings
Notes
Avoid overmixing the beef to keep patties tender and juicy
Let patties rest for a minute after grilling to help redistribute juices
Thicker patties stay juicier and develop a better crust during high heat grilling
Choose soft alcohol free buns that complement the burger without overpowering it
Refrigerate shaped patties up to twenty four hours or freeze up to three months for later use
