Description
Creamy Garlic Mushrooms is a rich, comforting dish made with sautéed mushrooms, onions, and garlic in a savory cream sauce. It’s naturally vegetarian, easily vegan, and perfect for serving over toast, pasta, rice, or as a side.
Ingredients
9 oz mushrooms (white or brown)
1 small onion
1 clove garlic
1 tbsp olive oil
½ cup cream (or coconut cream for vegan)
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Wash mushrooms quickly and slice them lengthwise.
2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat, then add mushrooms. Sauté for 5–6 minutes.
3. Chop onion and garlic. Add to the pan and cook for another 5 minutes until soft.
4. Pour in cream, soy sauce, parsley, and season with salt and pepper. Add vegetarian Worcestershire sauce if desired.
5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 more minutes.
6. Serve warm over toast, pasta, rice, or as a stand-alone side dish.
Notes
To keep mushrooms from becoming soggy, avoid overcrowding the pan.
Use coconut cream for a completely dairy-free and vegan version.
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat on low heat to prevent cream from separating.
