Ingredients
½ cup unsalted butter softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons alcohol free vanilla flavor such as Watkins Clear Vanilla Flavor or Alcohol Free Simply Organic
½ cup chai tea or water
⅓ cup milk
2 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cardamom
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
¼ teaspoon alcohol free vanilla flavor
3 teaspoons milk
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray
2. Beat softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy
3. Add eggs vanilla flavor chai tea or water and milk then mix until smooth
4. Combine flour baking powder salt cardamom cinnamon and cloves in a separate bowl
5. Stir dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined
6. Spread batter evenly into prepared loaf pan
7. Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
8. Cool bread in the pan briefly then transfer to a rack to cool completely
9. Mix powdered sugar vanilla flavor and milk until smooth to make the glaze
10. Pour glaze over cooled bread and allow it to set before slicing
Notes
Use butter that is softened but not melted so it creams well with sugar and helps the loaf rise evenly
Brew chai tea ahead of time and allow it to cool before adding so it blends smoothly
Adjust spices to taste by increasing cinnamon for warmth or adding a small pinch of nutmeg
