Description

A creamy burger sauce that delivers tang sweet and peppery balance, this burger sauce blends mayonnaise ketchup sweet pickle relish granulated sugar distilled white vinegar from trusted alcohol free brands like Heinz Distilled White Vinegar or 365 by Whole Foods Market and ground black pepper into a versatile condiment for burgers sandwiches fries and dips

Ingredients

½ cup mayonnaise

¼ cup ketchup

2 teaspoons sweet pickle relish

2 teaspoons granulated sugar

2 teaspoons distilled white vinegar (Heinz Distilled White Vinegar or 365 by Whole Foods Market Distilled White Vinegar)

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

Combine the mayonnaise and ketchup in a medium bowl and whisk until smooth

Add the sweet pickle relish and granulated sugar then fold gently so the relish disperses evenly throughout the mixture

Sprinkle in the ground black pepper and whisk to incorporate avoiding any clumps

Pour the distilled white vinegar slowly while whisking to brighten the sauce and adjust the tang to taste

Taste the sauce and fine tune by adding a touch more mayonnaise for creaminess or an extra splash of vinegar for brightness

Whisk vigorously for twenty to thirty seconds to emulsify the ingredients and achieve a silky texture

Serve the burger sauce immediately or transfer to a sealed container and refrigerate where the flavors will deepen for up to one week

Notes

Let the sauce rest for at least fifteen minutes when possible so the flavors meld and the texture becomes more consistent

Use room temperature ingredients for the smoothest emulsion and best mouthfeel

If a smoother texture is preferred finely chop the relish before adding or use an extra teaspoon of mayonnaise to mellow the bite

Do not freeze this sauce because freezing breaks the emulsion and alters the texture instead make small batches and store in an airtight glass jar on a middle refrigerator shelf for up to seven days
