Description

Crispy air fried tofu bites seasoned with paprika, garlic, onion, and a light coating of cornstarch for a crunchy and flavorful plant based protein option.


Ingredients

1 lb extra firm tofu pressed for 30 minutes and cut into 1 inch cubes

1/2 tablespoon liquid aminos

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

2 to 4 teaspoons cornstarch

1 teaspoon sesame oil or neutral oil

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper


Instructions

1. Place pressed tofu in a bowl and add liquid aminos. Toss to coat.

2. Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, sea salt, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper. Toss gently to combine.

3. Arrange tofu pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket so they are not touching.

4. Set the air fryer to 400°F and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket after 5 minutes.

5. Remove the tofu once golden and crisp. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use extra firm tofu only. Silken tofu will break apart.

Do not overcrowd the air fryer. Cook in two batches if needed.

Air fryers vary. Add an extra 5 minutes for additional crispness if necessary.

Seasoning can be changed. Try Italian herbs, BBQ seasoning, or Cajun seasoning.
